I bought my son a refurbished iPad and I had to restore it because he didn't use it for a bit and forgot the pin. When I restored it, we now cannot access it because my son's account was not the original iCloud account. Anyone know a solution to this?

Without the Apple ID and Password of yhe original user who set up the iPad, you will never be able to get around the Activation Lock. Activation Lock is a theft prevention feature. We can't help and Apple will not since you can't produce the original receipt.
