you do not have permission to open the application hp scanner3.app

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro with Big Sur and am now completely locked out of scanning from my HP printer. I can't believe there is no fix for this yet...?

There have been similar Big Sur problems reported with scanners from various printer manufacturers. Camp_mother mentioned a solution for Canon in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253010503?answerId=255650000022#255650000022 . Would something like that possibly work with your scanner as well? If necessary, power cycling the devices involved, and/or resetting the printing system, may also be worth testing.
