letters show up as question marks in boxes

You can always try from your Font book.app>File>Restore standard fonts

Restore fonts that came with your Mac using Font Book ...

I tried both and neither worked. Some of the Apple standard fonts are coming up with question mark boxes in Suitcase preview as well. So frustrating. I have to copy the question mark boxes, paste them into Pages, then change the font to read them.
