I tried to back up my phone this morning but it did not back up my photos or my contacts and I do not know why I was hoping you could help me with this thank you have a good day

If you use iCloud to sync Contacts or Photos they are not part of a backup, they are stored separately in iCloud and should be automatically kept up to date by your device.
