Im trying to connect my iMac up as a moniter up to my MacBook Air laptop. I noticed that both computers have thunderbolt ports. Im trying the cheapest way to get this set up, the cable that I found was a Mini DisplayPort would that work?

Per the link above:
• The cable connecting the two Mac computers must be a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 cable.
• Make sure that your iMac is using macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 or earlier.
• The MacBook Air must have been introduced in 2019 or earlier and have macOS Catalina or earlier installed.
It'll be helpful to know what year each Mac is.

My MacBook Air is a 2017 and my iMac is a late 2012.
