Using iPhone 7 with OS 10.15.7 Catalina

Plugged in iPhone 7 version 14.4 to desktop iMac. Got message a software update is needed. But it doesn't say what software that is. If it's a simple software upgrade, OK. But if it's Big Sur, no. And why would I need that anyway for this relatively older but up to date iPhone?

Your iPhone 7 isn't up to date if you still have iOS 14.4.

Update your phone to 14.7.

P.S.

Catalina doesn't have iTunes!
