Installing Big Sur

I have tried many times to install Big Sur and just as it looks like it will complete, I get a message that says "you must have an internet connection to complete this", which is ridiculous, because I've been connected the whole time. What can I do?

Big Sur install problem Upon 14 minutes into the installation of Big Sur a warning about needing an internet connection popped up. Checking the network I could clearly see that I was connected. Tried again three more times, same result. What to do?

Hello, 2020AppleChange.

Connect your Mac to your router with an ethernet cable instead of wirelessly. It'll probably make a world of difference.

Wireless connections often fail in this task.
