AppleCare for a refurbished Mac

Hi I bought a Mac a couple of weeks ago, a refurbished unit. I thought I'd find out if I could get a price for AppleCare for it. It tells me there is already AppleCare on the Mac, and further research I found that it expires on 25th Feb 2024. Am I covered by AppleCare from a previous owner?

Thanks in advance

Actually, I had the same scenario when I purchased a refurbished MacBook Air last year. While my coverage time showing at the check coverage.Apple.com site didn’t match that of the OP, it was definitely not cleared from the Mac during the refurbishing process. I called Apple and discussed the issue, the helpful Apple support person agreed it was indeed strange that it hadn’t been cleared. I decided to purchase Apple care plus and have the full 3 year coverage.

Refurbished from where exactly? Definitely not from Apple, as all coverage would have been immediately terminated during the refurbishment process by them.

And how old is this Mac exactly?. Being covered until 2024 would mean apple care was just purchased for it in February of this year. If it was never cancelled, then yes, the device would still be covered. Though the previous owner may cancel at any time when he realizes this, so I would not count on its continued existence.

Macs refurbished by Apple, are covered by Apple's standard one year warranty and are eligible for Apple Care+. But it must be purchased.
