I spent a few hours trying different DMG from the web.
Btw, I have another mid 2010 which can't boot to the recovery screen. It keeps displaying a blank screen. I tried SMC and PRAM reset, but no luck. Can you advise, please?
Have you tried another USB Wired Keyboard?
I only have the normal USB wired KB. It doesn't has the CMD key.
By Normal do you mean a Windows® KB?
If so Windows key = Mac CMD key
