OS upgrade

I am using mac pro (late 2011) with OS X EI capitan version 10.11.6. I want to upgrade to the new operating system but I keep getting an error message that it is not compatible with the new version. What do I need to do?

OS Upgrade I am using a very old iMac, the OS is X Yosemite 10.10.5. I am getting message to upgrade the OS and when trying not getting an option to upgrade. Please share the steps to upgrade and anything that I should do prior to OS upgrade. Thank You Amit

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and click on High Sierra. It's not capable of Mojave or above.
