Apple Watch - microphone

when I reply to text/WhatsApp messages on my Apple Watch, the microphone is greyed out so I can no longer dictate a reply.

I used to be able to, and I’ve tried all the other suggestions about enabling Siri etc.

please help!

In the Watch app on your iPhone, go to General>Enable Dictation.
