Will any of my programs running on El Capitan 10.11.6 run on the new M1 iMac?

Currently running Word 14.2, Filemaker Pro 11, Excel 14.2, Quickbooks 201 and Quicken 2007.

Yes, it's an 11 yr old iMac backed up by Time machine.

I've already converted all FileMaker files to Excel, ( 250 of them ) and really don't want to have to convert all of them one at time again. Getting away without buying them again would be great too as we don't input that much new info to Filemaker and Quickbooks anymore.

Can I run El Capitan or a different version of OS on my new iMac --which I haven't bought yet-- maybe store it and all of these files on on an external HD?

I am very concerned about the FileMaker Pro 11 files for my business. I am nearly retired and won’t be opening any new databases but would like the ability to open them. They are more complete and easier to navigate than some of the converted Excel versions.

That could be due to my familiarity with that program?

Depends on how complex they are. You would probably have better luck with OpenOffice or LibreOffice. If you use Outlook in Office 2011, there is no comparable app in either of these free, open source alternatives.

Version 14.x of Office is the 2011 release. It's 32 bit only software that will not in any way run under Catalina or later. Only occasionally do users have any luck running it under Mojave.
