pages crashes on opening

almost brand new macbookpro - pages crashes immediately on opening. reloaded, restarted to no avail.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

This is a frequently posted issue lately. The cure is to update your macOS to the current version (11.4) using System Preferences > Software Update.

Also, check the Mac App Store for updates to Pages. The current version is 11.1
