How can I return an iPhone to its owner? I own a repair shop and someone just left the phone with one of my employees after being told we do not "flash" phones.

How can I return an iPhone to its owner? I own a repair shop and someone just left the phone with one of my employees after being told we do not "flash" phones. Flashing is a term used to remove iCloud and carrier locks from devices. This practice seems unethical at best and an attempt to permanently deprive someone of their rightful property. Obviously something we just will not do. Without any useful information to the owner is there any way I can provide a SN or IMEI and have the owner contacted?

Someone tried to do all they could already. Removed the sim and reset it entirely with exception to the iCloud of course. I have plenty of devices running bluetooth and I set it on my store wifi so it should be located "IF" the owner just happens to search for it. There should be a more efficient way. If "Apple" produces, sells or distributes all these devices with IMEI's and Serial numbers then have a data base of contact information. I should be able to report a lost iPhone IMEI/SN and they should send out an automated email with its location.
