unable to remove two step authentication

After trying it out, I need to remove the two-step authentication. it is too much of a hassle to deal with it. i read i can remove it if i unenroll via the first email, but it was just an email with a code to verify my phone number and i dont see the link for it. i know there is a way to do it. if i have to factory reset my phone to do it, i need to know if that is the only choice i have.

Apple doesn't use two step verification anymore, they use two factor authentication.

Two-factor authentication is enabled by default on new Apple IDs and cannot be turned off.

If you have an old account and recently activated Two Factor Authentication note this section of an Apple support article:

"Two-factor authentication for Apple ID" - https://support.apple.com/HT204915

-->

"Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

... If you recently updated your account, you can unenroll within two weeks of enrollment. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings ..." Updated December 08, 2020
