Next week I get my new Macbook Air. I will be transferring everything from the old to the new using the migration assistant. My time capsule data is on an external drive. Why do the instructions have steps using the old Mac?

Migration Assistant asks if you want to transfer content from a Mac or a Time Machine backup. Select that option.
Hi,
Ensure the "From another Mac, PC, Time Machine backup or other disk" option is selected and click "Continue." Enter your administrator password and choose the "From a Time Machine backup or other disk" option.
There is literally no difference.
Thanks for the reply. From your response, I think I am having trouble with seeing the option "From TM ** or other disk". I get my new machine tomorrow (Tue). If I have any issues, I'll be back.

When given the option to select from a Mac or from a TM backup, is there a preference between the two options?
