Disappearing tags after saving new file

How to prevent tags from disappearing when I save a file?

When I am working on my file, the moment I click save, my tags will disappear.

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply however..

The recommended 2 options still doesn't solve my problem, I still have to "re-tag" it every time I save my saved file.

My problem here is when you work on a new document, we click "save as" to save a new file name for it. Then we'll continue to work on the document and click "save" once in a while to save our work.

Every time I hit save, my tag on that document will disappear, and I have to re-tag it again...

Hopefully someone could answer my problem

Yes, tagging a file while saving/downloading it doesn't work as intended. The tag disappears and the user has to "manually" locate the file and assign a tag to it.

I'm a new user who really likes this feature and I would like it even more if it WORKED.

I hope it gets fixed soon! I am on Big Sur.

With Pages v11.1 (as an example), if you click the unsaved Untitled.pages title bar and insert a tag name or color there, and then save the document, the tag is not preserved on the saved file. At this point, you can control-click the file, and enter the tag(s) from the Finder secondary menu. Or…

If you save the Untitled.pages document, a save panel appears where you can add a tag, change it to a real filename and save location. This places a tag on the saved file. This approach will prevent lost tags.
