Depending on the system & vintage of your Mac system, there's

a 'legacy' Java version that could be workable in that instance..

• Download Java for OS X 2017-001 | Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US

"This package is exclusively intended for support of legacy software

and installs the same deprecated version of Java 6 included in the

2015-001, 2014-001, and 2013-005 releases." File Size: 63.98 MB

"Download legacy Java SE 6 from Apple if you’re using an app

that specifically requires this unsupported, out-of-date version."

Hello CNGSN:

PS: Just noticed you've asked a question twice,

& now have 2 similar replies. ~ What system is

your Mac running? Was there an other upgrade

required before using different version of Java?

Your earlier question not unlike the present one:

This duplicate was posted three days after the above.

And multiple repeats are not helpful; + waste of time.
