Iphone12 volume

Asking on behalf of husband. Just upgraded to iPhone 12. All set up but the volume is very low when I call his phone - you can hardly hear it. . Gone through settings etc moved bar to highest level etc

no joy

It has to be increased *during* a live call, not in settings.
