how do you make the notifications sidebar always stay open on an iMac screen?

I don't want "Notifications" to pop out of the corner when I am working on the Mac When I am working In LightRoom and other apps on my Mac every third or fourth time I swipe from right to left the "Notifications" panel comes out and then I have to stop what I am doing and close the panel. This is very aggravating. I have eliminated all the widgets but the empty panel still pops out!
