i see that i need to unpair my watch before i send in for repair. Do i need to also reset the watch entirely before I send?

When you unpair the watch through the watch app a backup is made to icloud so that when you get the watch back from repair and you re-pair the watch back to your phone this backup is used to restore the watch back to the position it was at at the time you unpaired it.
Also when you unpair it,it does wipe the phone clean.
