You can use Time Machine and external USB drive, a Time Capsule (discontinued Apple devices with integrated router and backup drive) or a 3rd party backup device from WD, LaCie, Seagate, etc.

And of course you can simply copy and paste your personal files to external drives (this won't backup settings, apps, etc., only your files).
