If you are talking about Bluetooth earphones/headphones/Airpods, no problem for any iPad model.
If you're talking about wired accessories, it depends on your iPad Air model.
On iPad Air 1st, 2nd & 3rd generation, you have a 3,5mm port.
On iPad Air 4th generation, you need a USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter.
