Watch can't update

My watch is three years old- not on cellular. I deleted all photos, had no music and I don't remember loading any apps. Still no room for update. Thought I would reset to factory but it will prompt to restore from backup; probably don't want that?

Watch update problem Last night before updating, I deleted my profile of my former malfunctioned Apple Watch 3 cellular. Then I began downloading 6.1.1 to my current 3 cellular. It says, “Are you sure you want to switch?” It seems to think I have my old watch. There is no backing out of the dialogue. I am trying to re-download 6.1.1. If this doesn’t work, I will have to restore a back-up, which will likely take all night. Am I doing this right?

Apple Watch update My Apple Watch needed to be updated, so I tried to update it but told me that I needed to free up some space. I clicked on the option to free some and then the watch app wouldn’t switch tabs unless I updated the watch or factory reset. I clicked on factory reset so I could update it after I reset. I ended up having to leave home so I wasn’t connected to a stable wifi connection other than my cellular data. When I came back home and tried to start over, it doesn’t work! It stays on the “checking for updates” screen LOADING until my phone uses my cellular data and then it won’t let me update
