I am a not-very-techie user of a MacBook Air w/ Big Sur 11.2.3. I am in need of a backup option. Suggestions?

Time Machine is the best option available, in my opinion. You can either use a Network Drive over a Wi-Fi Connection or an External HDD/SSD connected directly to your MacBook Air. I like the latter which is the direct connection.

It is the first option above.
