Trackpad change with recent update

A feature I used to use CONSTANTLY with my trackpad on MacBook Pro:

I would select text with pointer finger (First Finger), and use second finger to adjust the selection range. And THEN, if the text I needed to select went past the current window in either the document or the web page, I would use my second and third finger together to scroll further down in the window, highlighting text the whole way. It worked great!

Since the update (Big Sur, I believe), when I add the third finger to try to scroll the window, it launches Mission Control instead of scrolling the window! Based on another question here, I disabled the Mission Control gesture in track pad settings. My three-finger text highlighting no longer launches Mission Control. Yay! However, it still does not do its former function, which was to make it easier to select text that went beyond the current window.

Any help?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.2

Thank you! Reading your links, I found the setting I was looking for was under "Accessibility", and NOT under Trackpad, which is why I couldn't initially find it! For anyone else, under Accessibility and then Trackpad Options, you have to turn on "enable dragging without drag lock" to keep the three-finger scroll I was describing.
