'You do not have permission to open the application' appearing when I download new apps.

Ever since the latest Big Sur update, whenever I try to open an app that I have downloaded from a browser on my MacBook Air, a popup appears saying

'You do not have permission to open the application "name of app" Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance.


MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.2

Go step by step and test


1. Startup in Safe mode. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201262

    To leave Safe Mode, click  in the menu bar and choose “Restart”


2. Repair a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac

3 Reinstall macOS.
