Keystroke for Split Screen?

On a MacBook Pro, are there keystrokes for entering a split screen view? I know how to use the mouse to move windows to a split screen view in a Space and split screen in a Desktop (i.e. "Tile Window..." vs. "Move window...").

Windows operating systems have keystrokes to move windows into split screen or quarter screen options (windows key + arrows), but are there keystrokes for this in MacOS? Haven't found any yet outside of downloading third-party apps. It seems the only way to accomplish this is to drag a window to one side of a screen or move 2 windows into a fullscreen Space.

You can create your own shortcuts to Tile or Move the window to the left or right side of the screen.

I originally had the keystroke set to ctrl+shift+F13 and ctrl+shift+F15 which would make the transition slow. I ended up changing it to ctrl+opt+comm+left arrow and it has made it return to the smooth transition.

I think some UI stuff used to go in slow motion when you held down the shift key, but I think that has been removed.

I don't know why it would happen just using a function key.

Try changing to ctrl-opt-← and see what happens.

Thanks, Barney! I've set shortcuts using function keys. I set "Tile Window" shortcuts, but now it seems to go in slow motion when I use the shortcut. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I tried a lot of those combinations and didn't see it slow down.

Another unexplained UI thing.
