Can't open migrated photos

I have old iphoto library photos on a hard drive from an old computer. My new mac won't let me view/open them?

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

Have you tried to copy the iPhoto Library to a local folder on your Mac? It may be a problem of the filesystem on the old drive or the file ownership.

iPhoto cannot run on a new Mac with macOS 10.15 or newer. You have to open the iPhoto Library with Photos for Mac. And the library needs to be on a volume, that has been prepared as described here:
