Different Email to Apple ID

Good day, my Apple ID is a gmail email address and emails from Apple e.g. two factor authentication are sent to this email address. However this gmail address is receiving a lot of spam and I want to close it, but I don't want to change my Apple ID. Is it possible to retain the Apple ID and change my email address to another one?

If so, how can this be done ?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.14

No, I don't believe you can do what you want.

Thank you, but this doesn’t solve my issue. I want to retain my current Apple ID and change the email address only.

Example: Apple ID of ***@gmail.com with the email address also as ***@gmail.com. I want to retain the ID ***@gmail.com and change the email address to ***@icloud.com.
