Hi AnnEmm2,

Welcome to the Apple Community where some of us do our best to help each other.


One quick way is sometimes just to empty the trash, if you have lots stored in there.

(You would need to restart your computer for the rerclaimed space to show up.)


If there are lots of files on your desktop, putting them into one "Desktop" folder may also help.


Buying a portable hard-drive to plug in, and storing movies, music, and any large files on that, can help.
