what if you get an error during the update? My iPhone is stuck at the Apple icon. I connected it to my computer and it stated an update was needed. Every time i try to update it i get an error and the phone still doesn't turn on. It just show a support link to restore. What do I do?

I think we're past the stage of being able to recover any data. I hope you had a backup.

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - You can put your iOS device into recovery mode, then restore it using iTunes.

Thanks Limnos but I tried that and it keeps saying there was an error halfway through and then I hit okay and the apple logo with a half of a update bar filled does nothing. Is there something else I can try without losing the data? My PC and iTunes are up to date.
