When I turn on my mac it loads then just goes to a blank screen with an alternating picture of a keyboard and mouse. I can’t get any further?

I'd guess that neither is paired/they both lost connection. If they have batteries, they may need to be replaced. You will need a USB/wired keyboard to get past the sign in screen. Then go to Bluetooth and check the status of your wireless devices - put in new batteries and pair them again.
