My Menu Bar stays in dark mode no matter what

Greetings, Apple community! I have a problem with my menu bar staying in Dark Mode even when my settings are set to Light or Auto. At Light Mode, the dock changes but the menu still stays dark.

Is this a bug or is there a setting I should change?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.2

FWIW, the Menu Bar adopts the color of the Desktop picture. The only way to change it to black text on light is to use a light desktop picture or enable "Reduce transparency" in System Preferences > Accessibility > Display.
