I have a 2018 MacBook Air running macOS Big Sur 11.3.
I am having issues sending iMessages on my MacBook. It will receives all msgs that I have forwarded from my iPhone, but when I try to respond on my MacBook it will not send as iMessage or SMS. I have gone through the troubleshooting steps with no luck. Can someone please help with this?

None of these worked. I can receive, I cannot send. I looked in my iCloud settings and messages isn't even there to enable or disable. I do not understand why I cannot send, but receives just fine. MacBook Pro using BigSur. Everything is up to date.

The only way I could fix the issue was delete the chats and start over. Apparently I had some old msgs that failed to send, so it was keeping any new msgs from sending. Hope that helps.
It’s funny that you say that... that is exactly what I did after a painful chat with Apple. They knew less than I did! Your answer was spot on! Hopefully our problem fix will help others
Lol. Yeah after all of the “Support” from Apple, I just kept at it until I figured out the issue. I’m glad it worked for you.
