iMac 21.5 inch mid 2011 and OS Big Sur

I am trying to upgrade my OS to Big Sur 11.2.3 but receive the message; "This version of macOS 11.2.3 cannot be installed on this computer" All of my MS Office program apps need to be updated but require the OS to first be upgraded. I am currently using macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 on an iMac 21.5 inch, Mid 2011 computer.

Are there any work arounds ?

Your Mac is not capable of running anything newer than High Sierra.

There is no workaround other than to find an alternative office suite like Libre Office or buy a new machine.
