iPod shuffle music

I would still like to know what you mean by “music on a computer“. In other words, any music files that are stored on a computer hard drive can be loaded onto and played back on both the nano and the shuffle.

In the past I recorded music from my computer to my iPod nano and it would play without a problem. I don’t understand.

I don’t know what “Music” on a computer means.

I downloaded music, which wasn’t Apple related, from my computer to my iPod nano and it appears to work fine. Is the shuffle format different such that I can’t do the same thing?

I am not familiar with Catalina and Big Sur. Please explain
