Internal Camera Bypass

Is there a way to use an external camera with iPhone's stock camera application? I use an application on my phone for work that utilizes the onboard iPhone camera and I was looking to utilize an external camera, but the application doesn't give an option to choose between internal and external cameras.

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 14

Why wouldn’t you just use the external camera and import the photos into the iPhone after you take the pics? The camera app controls the iPhone’s built in cameras only. It doesn’t have any means of even connecting to anything else.
