My wireless keyboard is not discoverable by the desk top. I changed keyboard batteries. No change

see if this will do it:

Reset bluetooth if wonky.

From the OS X desktop, hold down the Shift+Option keys and then click on the Bluetooth menu item to reveal the hidden Debug menu

or use a usb keyboard and mouse to get things going again. That's what I do, I use both all the time available.
