Apple TV new remote

I’ve tried syncing new remote to apply tv 2generation and the light blinks on the Apple TV but nothing on brand new remote

Do the remote linking procedure as described here: If your Apple TV remote isn’t working - Apple Support

Do all steps, including step #1, to clear any previous link first.
