When I try to update my Mac to Big Sur there is no software update button. I tried going to the App Store but there is no update their either. What should I do?

software update not working I saw that there is an update for macOS Big Sur to v.11.7 but when I open Software Update, all that happens is that I see the loading animation and it never stops - no update is ever displayed. I am currently on macOS 11.6.8. Is there any other way to download this macOS update other than using the Software Update app? Thanks!

It's not an update. You need to download the Big Sur installer from the App Store.
