Cannot install apps on iPhone 5 because no ios 12

How can I install apps from the app store on my iPhone 5 like Instagram because when I click install it says I need to upgrade to ios12 but I have ios10 and it says my software is up to date when I go to software update?

Also, is there a way of updating the ios or maybe installing older versions of the apps that I want to install?

Hi Mikem067,


It sounds like you're inquiring about update options for your iPhone in order to install apps that require newer iOS versions for compatibility.


As you have found, iOS 10.3.4 is the latest version the iPhone can handle, so in order to have those apps installed, a newer hardware device would be required. There's no way to update the iPhone 5 past that iOS version.
