Reading SD card

I have a new M1 MacBook Pro 2020 with Big Sur. it wouldn’t read my SD card using port adapter. On my old Mac I have erased, formatted to Mac OS X extended and transferred files back to card. Still can’t get Big Sur to load the files in finder (.NEF files)

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0

Loading the .NEF files is one thing but does the Finder /Photos see and mount the the SD card (?)—this would be telling.

See if your Camera is on the list of RAW support— if it is a new camera it may well take some time...for Big Sur support

Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and macOS Big Sur

It does see and mount the card but not the files. Interestingly I have just reformatted the card in camera and taken a photo. Using usb cable to camera works fine. Thinking it may be an SD card reader issue.

resorted to airdrop from old Mac to get the files across!

Good computing hollybenham— formatting the card in camera is a legitimate.
