Can't upgrade OS from High Sierra to Catalina on iMac 2015

I have a 2015 iMac running high sierra OS, but can't seem to upgrade to Catalina? Is there something I'm doing wrong. I can download it, but doesn't seem to start the installation.

The installation package will be in your Applications Folder. Try to run it from there.

how do i upgrade my imac to catalina I have a iMac 21.5 Late 2015 running El Capitan version 10.11.6. I would love to upgrade the OS but in software updates I do not get the option to upgrade anything else. I think I should be able to upgrade to catalina but do not see how. Any help would be appreciated.
