Big Sur Update installed twice?

After starting the installation, my Mac restarted after a while and opened the installation screen again where I have to enter the storage location and enter my password to confirm. Is that normal or is the update now installed twice and takes up more storage?

Big Sur will not update I've had major problems trying to update Big Sur as despite saying it needed 12 kb it then said it needed about 17kb and I had to delete loads of photos and emails to make room. It then said it would take 12 hours to download. It finally got to the end and said there was a security issue and the update couldn't be verified and wanted me to start all over again. I have wasted literally WEEKS trying to get this to update (on my MacBook Air) and don't understand why it needs such an enormous amount of space and why it is proving such an issue. Can anyone help?

Reinstalling Mac OS Hi, I’m reinstalling Mac OS Big sur and as soon as I started inistalling it the progress bar jumps to 3 quarters done, and it’s saying at 2 hours and 20 minutes remaining, update when I choosing device it jumps up to about 40 hours and 32 remaining, why.

Issues on preparing software update while updating Big Sur While I am restarting my computer after I began the Mac Big Sure installation, it said that there are issues on preparing the software update. Then it has the macOS update assistant program with a process bar, but didn't have any progress within the next half hour. There was issues with the space of my Startup disk, but after I empty the trash can, I could download the Big Sur package.
