I recently restored my iPhone to factory settings after being locked out due to password attempts. How can I recover the data I lost? I have been able to find detailed instructions on how to clear data, but nothing on how to get it back. I would appreciate any help.

Retrieve it from your latest backup. You did back up the iPhone, right? If not, your data is gone.

If you had iCloud backups enabled, then when you go through the setup process after restoring iOS, choose the option to restore the phone from your iCloud backup.
If you didn't have iCloud backups enabled, your data is gone.
“Automatically”? Without your being aware of setting it up? Sounds incredulous...
Did you set something up to back up to -
I connected it to iCloud and to my computer, but am not sure if I set up a back up. I am also connected to a family plan so there may be some data-sharing involved in that. For now, I will follow the instructions in the article you sent. Thanks.
I did not back it up manually, but it might have happened automatically. How do I check?
