Mac mini m1 and Ethernet issue

Seem to be a lot of problems with this...I can connect with WiFi, but whatever I do - multiple re-configurations, lots of looking at others' attempted solutions, I cannot get the Ethernet connection to work. On same network have a 2015 Mac which works very happily on Ethernet. Have latest Big Sur on both.
