This item is temporarily unavailable - OS X Network Install
So, a couple of weeks back I bought an Apple Mac 2009, bought Microsoft office 2008 for Apple Mac 2009 and found that the Max said there is no software to be found on the disc.
Mrs who is a Apple Mac 2018 user tried in vain to load updates for Windows 2008.
Anyway, today I decided to sell this Mac on and put it on Ebay. Went to do a system restore and did that.
When it came to installing OS X on the Mac HDD, my user ID and password entry result in 'Ths item is temporarily unavailable. Tried this several times. Did a search and found an old post on communities here that I need the original owners ID and user password. NOT SO GREAT.
Mrs tried her user name and password as she did a windows office 2008 update, as well as having done previous updates on her 'own' account as the old post said, Apple needed other users with update history.
DIDN'T WORK EITHER.
So, at present I am hoping that the seller who sold me the Mac is kind enough for me to pop round (socially distancing in COVID times) and enter their old user name and password JUST to reload El Capitan.
IF, they are not willing to do that, AM I SCREWED?
