Ethernet connection not available in network list on iMac 2017

I need to connect a router by ethernet to configure it. However ethernet connection does not appear in the list in network connection setting on my iMac 2017. It wasn't there before I just upgraded to Big Sur and it's still not there.

Please could someone advise how I can either set it up again or download a fix so I can use ethernet connection again, also for internet access via ethernet in the future if I need to.

Thank you Luis, clearly I was being very dim and doubting such a simple solution. I can now access the internet via ethernet only. I've not quite fixed the connecting to the router issue yet but I will take that as a seperate issue.

Let me see if I understand it:

you click + to add a new service, and Ethernet IS an option, right?

Choose that, and set it to DHCP.

Does it work?

Isn't it there if you click the "+" button to add a new service?

Try creating a new "Location":

If it still does not work, try resetting NVRAM and SMC.

Hi,

yes there is and I can add a new connection but it doesn’t work, I also don’t know what the settings should be.
