printer with my MacBook Pro OS Big Sur

Can't print using my HP Deskjet D4160. It's about 14 years old. When I update my OS software, does it make my printer obsolete? Therefore, I need a new printer?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.1

If macOS cannot download a driver for the printer, then check the driver list when adding the printer to see if there is a GutenPrint or CUPS driver for that printer or for the D41xx series or D4xxx series.
